Today, you get to come along to a premed meetup I hosted in Chicago! I answer a bunch of common questions about how to get into medical school and succeed on your path to being a physician.

Here are some of the topics I cover in the video:
• Why you need to get out there and collaborate with others premeds—not just study for the MCAT in your room.
• Why you should stop stressing about all these details that are so micro-focused on your premed path.
• What counts as clinical experience?
• Why you need consistency in your clinical experience over time.
• Tips for the first year of medical school: Can you do anything to prepare?
• Why I think the MCAT is the hardest exam on the path to becoming a physician.
• What qualifies as a "disadvantaged background" on a med school application? And why do medical schools care?
• How can you prepare for the multiple mini interview (MMI)?
• Why every kind of medical school interview is fundamentally just a conversation.
• The power of telling your story as a med school applicant.
Are you following me on Instagram yet? Check it out at @medicalschoolhq:
I really like videos like this where you walk around and talk to people! I’D really like to see more of these! It’s nice seeing vids on how to be supportive to your fellow pre meds.
thanks!
Will you please do a video on how changing Step 1 to pass/fail will impact residency applications? Especially for people wanting to match into competitive specialties?
I’ll put something together, somewhere. I have an email out to a dozen program directors who I’ve talked to on Specialty Stories.
“Don’t hide in your room, studying for the mcat”?
Are you coming to Phoenix (ASU or GCU)? I know a good Thai place for a meetup. It would be nice to have you do a talk if you are interested.
@Medical School HQ rgr
thanks! Nothing planned anytime soon.
Best perspective on how to apply to Med School. Be REAL…
Come back to Chicago! I will be there if you do!
@Medical School HQ Omg I missed you 🙁
come back?!?! I was just there!
This channel is criminally under watched and undersubscribed
I think so too 🙂 – spread the word!
Spread the word!
You dont need to scribe more than a year the notion that your checkboxing is wrong. If you had an amazing experience have more hours dosnt change that. You can quit!
you can definitely quit as long as you continue to do clinical experience—that part of the context didn’t make the cut.
